Just to preface these, I'm only starting to become familiar with O'Neil and IBD; I read Successful Investor last summer on recommendations from a few other traders and am planning to read How to Make Money in Stocks and his book on selling short as well. One of the commenters on the Seeking Alpha piece mentioned that he had used & tracked the IBD Top 100 service and the average stock in the portfolio lost 80% if bought on inclusion and sold following its exit from the Top 100. Do you think this is a valid method of vetting the (off-the-shelf) IBD services and secondly, how should a trader use IBD or CANSLIM methods for idea generation (in your view/experience)?
